Grand Rapids Co-Op Sponsors Local New Year’s Eve Celebration

The Grand Rapids Co-Op, made up of the Monterosso group, PF Michigan and Impact Fitness brought in the new year together by sponsoring the Grand Rapids Ball Drop. Even in the cold Michigan weather, many members of the community came out to celebrate.

The Planet Fitness® sponsorship included signage on the main stage, radio commercials, digital advertising and event targeting. PF® team members attended the event and handed out coffee and hot chocolate to warm people up. Live bands played throughout the night, building up the momentum for the ball drop.

Attendees enjoyed delicious foods and drinks from the food trucks at the event. When the ball finally dropped at midnight, downtown Grand Rapids was lit up with a firework show.

The Co-Op is looking forward to a successful 2020 for their clubs and hopes to sponsor the ball drop event again in the future.

Lev Management Co-Sponsors Annual Turkey Trot 5K for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands

Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands hosts its Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving morning. The race is one of the largest annual events raising money for programs put on by the Boys & Girls Clubs, which serve 11,200 youth in South Carolina.

Lev Management, owned by Brian Bobenage, co-sponsored the 2019 race, along with Sunshine Fitness, for its fourth year. The race had over 1,200 runners and raised more than $40,000.

The sponsorship included Planet Fitness®-branded T-shirts, water bottles and event advertising through billboards and print. Winners of each age group received PF®– branded gym bags, and overall winners got a complimentary Black Card® membership. Over 15 PF team members came out on Thanksgiving morning for the race, some running and some volunteering by handing out goodies and awards.

As one of its biggest events, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands relies on Planet Fitness’ support to help make the Turkey Trot 5K a success each year, but the relationship extends past the race. In addition to sponsoring the annual race, Lev Management conducts periodic fundraising campaigns and makes a monetary donation to a local chapter at each club’s grand-opening event.

Brian Bobenage serves on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands and helps facilitate the relationship. “The Boys & Girls Club’s mission perfectly aligns with our own mission here at Planet Fitness, allowing for a true partnership toward the Judgement Free Generation®,” said Bobenage. He said the 5K “is a great way to start off Thanksgiving and the holiday season” and is looking forward to another successful partnership in 2020.

United PF Partners Celebrates Grand Opening with Donation to Educated Athletes First

On July 10, United PF Partners celebrated the grand opening of its new Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, location. About 100 guests showed their support and excitement for the new club. Many special guests attended the event, including the Scottdale Chamber of Commerce, UPF Pittsburgh club managers, and representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters and Educated Athletes First (EAF).

The grand-opening celebration consisted of a ribbon cutting, food and drinks from Panera Bread and a cake cutting. In addition to a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters, United PF also gave money to Educated Athletes First. Cofounded by Cincinnati Bengals player Demetrious Cox, EAF helps prepare young athletes for the future on and off the playing field. The organization prepares students for academic success, offers free workouts and provides many other opportunities for success. “We felt EAF’s values and mission align with our guiding principles at Planet Fitness® and support our local youth in vital ways,” said District Manager Andrew Tatich.

Cox attended the event to accept a $2,500 check from United PF. Members of the Mt. Pleasant community were thrilled about his attendance, which brought many people to the new club. “He is an influential role model in our town, and we were really proud to have him present for the official opening,” Tatich said. “I think this started a meaningful relationship with the community and the mission of EAF in Mount Pleasant.”

United PF is looking forward to working with EAF more closely in the future and is excited to give the Mount Pleasant community a new place to work out. “We focus on creating a space where everyone in the community can be the best version of themselves while feeling accepted and respected,” said Gary Williams, regional director. “We are happy to continue our partnership with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Laurel County and excited to begin this new relationship with Educated Athletes First, whose values truly align with our initiatives here at Planet Fitness Mt. Pleasant.”
