Excel Fitness Fights Brain Cancer Step by Step

According to the American Brain Tumor Association, there are about 90,000 people diagnosed with a primary brain tumor each year, with brain cancer ranked the fifth most common cancer. Statistics like these underscore why Excel Fitness felt it was important to build awareness and raise funds for the local brain cancer community.

Runners hit the pavement on May 6 at the Head for the Cure 5K in North Texas. Three members of Excel’s Frisco Planet Fitness® team showed their support for the important cause by setting up a table at the 5K and cheering on runners. They handed out freebies to race participants, including keychains and bracelets, encouraging runners to cross the finish line.

The race is an annual event hosted by the Head for the Cure Foundation. This organization helps brain cancer patients and their families by providing support, building awareness on brain cancer and raising funds through 5Ks and other fundraising events to support clinical research and programs. The funds from the Head for the Cure 5K went to the UT Southwestern O’Donnell Brain Institute and Grey Matters North Texas Brain Tumor Support Group. Thanks to the Excel Fitness team, the local brain cancer community received support and hope.
