GNT Holdings Teams Up With the Miracle League of High Point

This year marks the third year in a row that GNT Holdings has volunteered for the Miracle League and helped children ages 4 and up have a fun, judgement-free weekend filled with baseball.

The Miracle League is a nonprofit organization that enables disabled children to play on an inclusive baseball team. During the games, there are two innings where everyone bats, no one strikes out and no one loses. Games are played on special flat, rubberized fields that allow players using wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility devices to move around freely on the field.

“The Miracle League is by far my favorite organization to give my time to,” said Mike Cain, general manager of GNT Holdings’ Planet Fitness® in Lexington, North Carolina, owned by Gerald Kennedy. “Everything about it is amazing not only for the participants, but for myself as well. It is an extremely rewarding experience, and I look forward to it each time.”

Once every spring and fall season, GNT Holdings will take over the field for the day and volunteer as buddies and help the players out on the field. Each child is assigned a buddy or two depending on the player’s needs. These buddies are there to help assist the children in playing the game, hitting the ball and running the bases. “It is amazing to be able to help underprivileged children and give back to the community,” said Justin Evans, general manager of Planet Fitness Greensboro, North Carolina. “It is a great opportunity, and there isn’t a better way to spend a day.”

Roughly 30 staff members from GNT Holdings volunteered for all four games that were played that day with each game lasting 30-45 minutes. Throughout the year, the Miracle League holds two seasons of games. The spring season lasts for 11 weeks, and the fall lasts for 16.

“This is such a fabulous charity, and we leave feeling like we were the ones that gained something rather than the other way around,” said Janess Reyna, marketing director for GNT Holdings. “Our managers look forward to this event each spring and fall, and we cannot wait to go back!”

Members of GNT Holdings enjoy getting outside and helping out the kids or anyone else in need.

“It was an uplifting experience. Being able to provide fun and excitement to the kids through Miracle League reinforced why I do what I do,” said Todd Ernst, regional manager with GNT Holdings. “It’s a wonderful feeling to know that you helped brighten someone’s day, and I’m looking forward to more opportunities like this in the future.”
