Houston Fitness Partners Climbs to the Top at Big Climb Houston

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, it can feel like a long, uphill battle. However, Houston Fitness Partners worked to make cancer patients and their families feel a little less alone. For the sixth year in a row, Houston Fitness Partners sponsored Big Climb Houston on April 1. The franchise group partnered with the local Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Texas Gulf Coast Chapter for the event. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

During Big Climb Houston, participants were challenged to climb 50 flights of stairs to the top of Three Allen Center in downtown Houston. For those who couldn’t make it to the event, Houston Fitness Partners welcomed PF® members and guests to visit any Planet Fitness® club to climb the 50 flights of stairs on the Stairmaster. Each participant who completed the challenge was able to enter a chance to win a free Black Card membership for a year. This year, over 600 participants brought their A-game and joined the fundraising event. The franchise group also had close to 30 team members attend the event.

Houston Fitness Partners contributed to the event at a $15,000 sponsorship level and was the “Put the I in Climb” sponsor. The group also set up a table at the event and passed out Planet Fitness swag to participants. Lastly, Houston Fitness Partners spread the word about the event and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission via email and in-club signage.

Over the past six years, Houston Fitness Partners has fundraised and sponsored around $155,000 and climbed 300 flights of stairs to fund lifesaving blood cancer research. This year, Houston Fitness Partners raised more than $7,300 during the event. The group plans to partner with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society next year and for many years to come.
