Houston Fitness Partners Supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Big Climb Houston Event

Planet Fitness® franchisees love to give back to the community and help important causes. Because of this, Houston Fitness Partners was happy to support and sponsor the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s fifth annual Big Climb Houston event held in April. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funds blood cancer research and provides free information and support services to blood cancer patients and their families.

Houston Fitness Partners has worked on the event each year since the launch of the Big Climb in Houston in 2018. After being held virtually in 2021 due to COVID, the climb was held at Three Allen Center this year, a 50-story building in downtown Houston.

During the Big Climb Houston event, around 430 attendees climbed 50 flights of stairs in honor of those affected by blood cancers. Houston Fitness Partners offered participants giveaway items, such as T-shirts, rally towels, drawstring backpacks, water bottles, sunglasses and hand sanitizers. Approximately 500 people attended the event.

Houston Fitness Partners also invited participants into their clubs to climb on the Stairmaster on the day of the event, and participants were invited to donate. If the participants completed the 50 flights of stairs, they could submit an entry into a drawing to win a free Black Card membership for a whole year with 27 winners being drawn.

From February to April, Houston Fitness Partners raised money both inside and outside its clubs to help fund lifesaving blood cancer research. Overall, the group raised approximately $12,750, which went toward improving the quality of life for blood cancer patients and their families. According to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s website, the organization has invested almost $1.3 billion in cancer research.
