National Fitness Partners Provides Help to Local Community, One Meal at a Time
Healthy food and diet are important to overall health and wellness, and it’s something many across Planet Fitness® take very seriously. Team members from NFP spent time giving back in their local community at Share Food Program’s Warehouse, which is the largest hunger relief organization in the region covering Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
On Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, about 19 volunteers from NFP spent four hours at Share Food Program’s Warehouse packing food boxes for seniors over the age of 65 with limited income. The packed food boxes included necessary food items such as cereal, canned fruits, vegetables, etc. In total, they packed 15 pallets of food, or about 630 boxes. Each box weighed around 32 pounds for a total of 20,160 pounds of food packed for distribution!
Additionally, the volunteers helped by restocking the line, building and filling boxes, stacking and wrapping pallets and breaking down boxes. This was the franchise group’s first time helping with the Share Food Program, but NFP is already planning to do so again soon.
Jasel Belizaire, NFP’s diversity and inclusion specialist, was one of the volunteers. She enjoyed giving back to her local community and wants to continue to give back. “Philadelphia, the place I call my home, is one of the top 10 cities experiencing food insecurity,” Belizaire said. “I want to partner with existing organizations that are making a difference, one home at a time.”
