PF Michigan Group was excited to resume their traditional grand-opening events for new clubs, which had to be halted during the pandemic. It recently opened three clubs in Michigan – Bloomfield Hills, Taylor and downtown Grand Rapids, which gave the group a lot of cause to celebrate.

“When we open a new location, we like to host an event the members and neighbors can attend and be part of,” said Vice President of Marketing for PF Michigan Group Mary Scott. “It is a fun way to show off the new gym and reinforce our commitment to the communities we serve.”

Each grand-opening event features food, prizes and giveaways, plus an appearance from a local radio personality. Food is purchased from a local restaurant or caterer, and prizes can range from electronics to event tickets, Black Card memberships or monetary gift cards.

“If we are giving away concert tickets, we always see a boost in attendance,” Scott said. “Because many concerts and live events have been postponed, we’ve changed it up. Luckily, we have seen lot of interest generated from raffling off grocery store gift cards.”

The events also included a donation to the local Boys & Girls Clubs of America – what better way to celebrate an exciting occasion than giving back to the community?

“This year, we decided to match each dollar raised during our national Boys & Girls Clubs of America fundraiser and donate it to our local chapters,” Scott said. Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan was presented a check for $10,000 during the Taylor grand opening on behalf of all PFMG Detroit-area clubs.

During the Bloomfield Hills and Grand Rapids opening events, the local chapters were presented with $1,000 donations.

Another tip is to work with the club’s regional manager, general manager and staff to plan the event, Scott said. “We want them involved in each step of the planning process. Our teams have great ideas, and it helps build excitement among the staff and members.”

Opening a new club is always special, and PF Michigan Group is able to do them justice once more with a successful, in-person grand-opening celebrations.
