It is always exciting to hear about a new Planet Fitness^® club opening, bringing affordable exercise options to more communities, and PF Michigan recently opened a location that is unique for where it is. The club resides in the New Center area of Detroit inside the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center. This marks the first location for the franchise group in downtown Detroit, although Planet Fitness has been the official gym of the Detroit Pistons since 2018, according to a press release about the new location.

Vice President of Marketing for PF Michigan Mary Scott explained that this new club has been a long time coming. “We originally got to work on this pre-pandemic, but for obvious reasons, we had some delays,” she explained.

The new club features a wide array of cardio and strength equipment, a 30-Minute Circuit Area, plenty of space for stretching, a free weight area and more. There are also quality locker rooms as well as the Black Card area with its requisite HydroMassage machines and tanning equipment. Another unique feature of this location is the PF x DET signage located on the exterior windows and an interior breezeway, developed by the Detroit Pistons to promote the partnership.

The Pistons Performance Center is perfectly situated to provide convenient access to large area employers, including the Detroit Pistons and Henry Ford Health System Headquarters, in addition to the residential population in New Center.”

Planet Fitness aims to bring the JFZ philosophy to communities so the most people possible can improve their health and fitness at an affordable rate, and it is great to see that philosophy resonate with partners like the Detroit Pistons.
