PFGP Sponsors Plunge for Special Olympics Maryland

Planet Fitness® always dives headfirst into giving back, which is why PF Growth Partners (PFGP) was happy to take the “plunge” for a cause it strongly believes in – Special Olympics Maryland. After being delayed due to COVID, the nonprofit’s Polar Bear Plunge took place March 18-19.

The Maryland Plunge hosts over 10,000 people each year and has raised over $40 million for Special Olympics Maryland. The first Plunge occurred in 1996, and the event has expanded into five different Plunge properties, including Super Plunge, Cool Schools Plunge, Police Plunge, Corporate Plunge and six Plunges on Maryland Plunge Day.

During this year’s “Super Plunge,” PFGP proudly sponsored WBAL-TV News Baltimore anchor Jennifer Franciotti as she braved the chilly waters of the Chesapeake Bay to raise money for Special Olympics Maryland.

For the past 10 years, Franciotti has been a “super plunger.” This year, she jumped in the bay with Planet Fitness swag, including a beanie, zipped hoodie, T-shirt, sweatpants, towel, sunglasses and a water bottle.

In her social media posts, Franciotti thanked Planet Fitness for being “the muscle behind the [Special Olympics] athletes” and “doing the heavy lifting with their [$2,000] donation.”

“By supporting the 2022 Polar Bear Plunge, we helped to provide year-round sports and leadership programs that are free to the 6,102 athletes of Special Olympics Maryland and their families,” said PFGP Chief Marketing Officer Josh Gerber. “We certainly will consider continuing to support Jennifer Franciotti in the 2023 Polar Bear Plunge.”
