Planet Fitness Midwest Closes Out 2023 with Several New Clubs
Planet Fitness Midwest ended 2023 with a surge in growth. In the last quarter of the year, the franchise group opened three clubs. On Nov. 27, the franchise group opened a club in Quincy, Illinois. Then, in December, the group opened clubs in Lexington, Kentucky, and O’Fallon, Missouri. All the clubs feature HydroMassage amenities, a Wellness Pod, massage chairs and tanning beds/booths. Already, the clubs have found success, as all three of the clubs have over 2,000 members, with the O’Fallon club having 3,100 members.
The club opening in Lexington, Kentucky, marked the group’s 50-club milestone. To celebrate the notable milestone, the franchise group held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 19. The University of Kentucky basketball team joined Planet Fitness Midwest for their ribbon-cutting ceremony. That same day, the franchise group also held a celebratory dinner in Lexington where University of Kentucky basketball coach John Vincent Calipari made an appearance. The dinner allowed the group to celebrate each of their clubs, as well as honor tenured employees.
Senior Vice President Joshua Gass was one of the employees honored, recognizing his more than 15 years with the company. The other employees who were recognized include Dalton Shuford, regional manager in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Will Rocchino, manager at the club in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Additionally, all invited staff were given a custom Lululemon Planet Fitness® quarter-zip jacket.
To kick off the grand opening of the Lexington club, Planet Fitness Midwest also had an autograph signing with Reed Sheppard, a basketball player for the Kentucky Wildcats. The event brought in hundreds of fans into the Planet Fitness club to meet the basketball star.
Planet Fitness Midwest currently has clubs in 11 states, including Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Tennessee, West Virginia and Arkansas. In 2024, Planet Fitness Midwest plans to continue to expand. The franchise’s goal is to open 10 new clubs, as well as complete four remodels and 14 re-equips.
