Segler Group Makes Generous Cardio Equipment Donations to Boys & Girls Club
Giving back to the communities in which they operate is what sets Planet Fitness® franchises apart from the rest of the pack. From toy drives during the holidays, school supply drives in the summer or volunteer work, Segler Group makes it a priority to consistently make an impact through service. Needing to find a new donation route this year, the Texas-based franchise group turned to the Boys & Girls Club to help uplift those in its community. The franchise group donated 23 pieces of cardio equipment across its operating region in southern Texas.
“Giving back to our community is something we feel strongly about. We are constantly finding different ways to give back, whether it’s toy drives, school supply drives and/or volunteer work at different organizations,” said Aaron Barrientes, general manager of Planet Fitness Edinburg. “We appreciate the community’s commitment to health and fitness and are committed to helping in any way we can.”
Segler Group spread the wealth, donating its equipment across eight separate Boys & Girls Club locations. The Texas-based locations that received donations were Edinburg, Mission, Pharr, Weslaco, San Benito, McAllen, Harlingen and Kingsville. Those clubs received cardio treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, arc trainers and rowers.
This donation marks the first of Segler Group’s seven clubs across Texas to donate equipment following a re-equip. All equipment came from the group’s Edinburg location. With the success of the donation, the group plans to continue this effort in the future with other clubs.
Barrientes hopes to inspire other franchise groups to join the effort and donate equipment of their own.
“I hope we can come together to share this incredible story to hopefully inspire other locations that will be re-equipping equipment in the future to reach out to the community and do the same,” he said.
